Providing Hope, Help, and Safety for Hurting People
One of our passions at ROCK Church is to demonstrate the love of Christ to hungry, homeless and hopeless people. For nearly 20 years, ROCK Out – Outreach has been reaching out to hurting people in our city. It began with two men in our church taking sandwiches and bottled water to people in crack houses and homeless encampments and telling them God loved them and they loved them. Others joined them and began using their personal vehicles to bring drug addicts, alcoholics, prostitutes, the homeless and those without transportation to church. ROCK Out – Outreach, a volunteer led and staffed ministry, continues to make a life changing difference in the lives of hurting and hopeless people. One of the great testimonies of life change is that one of those men is now a member of our ministry staff.
ROCK Out – Outreach provides transportation for people in the inner city to attend our weekend services. Ministry includes a continental breakfast, a hearty bag lunch for everyone who comes and showers, toiletries and a clean change of clothes for those who are homeless.
Jesus said, I was hungry and you didn’t feed Me. I was thirsty and you didn’t give Me anything to drink. I was a stranger and you didn’t invite Me into your home. I was naked and you gave Me no clothing. I was sick and in prison and you didn’t visit Me”. Then they replied, “Lord, when did we ever see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help You?” He answered, “I assure you, when you refused to help the least of these My brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help Me”. – Matthew 25:42-45
