Harvest (Wk 3): ‘Weed and Feed’

  • HARVEST is not perpetual.
  • HARVEST is seasonal.
  • No preparation = No HARVEST
  • HARVEST doesn’t happen by ACCIDENT.
  • There can be no harvest without first sowing seed.
  • Prepare the Soil
  • Sow Seeds
  • Weed and Feed
Matthew 9:37–38 (ESV)
37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;
38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Proverbs 24:30–34 (CEV)
30 I once walked by the field and the vineyard of a lazy fool.
31 Thorns and weeds were everywhere, and the stone wall had fallen down.
32 When I saw this, it taught me a lesson:
33 Sleep a little. Doze a little. Fold your hands and twiddle your thumbs.
34 Suddenly poverty hits you and everything is gone!
They utter mere words; with empty oaths they make covenants; so judgment springs up like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field.
If we are not careful…
  • WORDS become WEEDS
  • WEEDS destroy HARVEST
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
  • WORDS water and feed SEEDS
  • ACTIONS uproot WEEDS
  • SEEDS produce HARVEST
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Hosea 10:12 (ESV)
12 Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love;
break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that He may come and rain righteousness upon you.
